Join the Staples Academy Foundation for a special public dedication ceremony celebrating the installation of the official Pomeroy Foundation Historic Marker recognizing Samuel Staples and the founding of his Academy.

Established through the philanthropy of Samuel Staples in 1781 and embodied in the Academy building erected in 1795, his School became one of the region’s earliest efforts to provide co-educational opportunity for local children regardless of financial means. This marker commemorates his enduring legacy of education, charity, and community in Easton.

The ceremony will include brief remarks on the history of the Academy, the significance of the Pomeroy marker designation, and the continuing preservation efforts surrounding this landmark building.
